Volunteer Coordinator

Description

  • The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, orients, and trains all volunteers, whether club members or not, for participation in the Foundation's service activities, including the Thrift Sale, Meals on Wheels, Warm the Children, the Kiwanis Environmental Education Preserve, and other on-going and one-time service projects.
  • Develops and maintains volunteer policies and standards and assesses volunteer work force requirements and staffing levels.
  • Develops and distributes volunteer schedules and assignments and generates reports of volunteer participation.

 

Duties

  • Identifies, develops and implements strategies to encourage participation by all club members in the Thrift Sale and other Foundation service projects.
  • Identifies and implements strategies to recruit new volunteers.
  • Develops, maintains, and supports a wide range of volunteer opportunities related to the Thrift Sale.
  • With the Sales Manager, develops and maintains volunteer policies, procedures and standards.
  • Develops and distributes Thrift Sale volunteer schedules and assignments.
  • Assesses current and future Thrift Sale volunteer work force requirements and staffing levels.
  • Ensures that sufficient volunteers are trained for all Thrift Sale service areas.
  • Organizes and participates in volunteer recognition programs and special events.
  • Evaluates all aspects of Kiwanis volunteer programs to ensure their effectiveness and recommends and implements appropriate changes.
  • Maintains accurate records and generating timely reports of volunteer participation.
  • Ensures that volunteers relate to customers and the public in a courteous manner and meet customer service expectations.
  • Attends Sales Management Oversight Committee and other committee meetings as requested.

 

Qualifications

  • Has experience in volunteer administration and/or is familiar with management principles and techniques related to volunteer administration.
  • Has strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is computer literate with current knowledge of MS Office and, preferably FileMaker and SignUpGenius.
  • Has ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Is attentive to detail.
  • Is a self-starter who can work productively with frequent interruptions in an unstructured environment.
